The Presente do Indicativo is the engine of the Portuguese language. It is the first tense you learn and the one you will use most often.

When to use it:

How it works: In Portuguese, verbs belong to three families based on their ending: -AR, -ER, or -IR. To conjugate a Regular verb, you simply remove that ending and add a specific suffix for each person (Eu, Tu, Ele...).
